Uganda's coffee is 80% represented by Robusta, and the remaining 20% is Arabica. By the volume of robusta exports, Uganda ranks 2nd in the world, and by the volume of all coffee produced – 8th. At the beginning of the 20th century, Arabica plantations appeared in Western Uganda, and after that in the Eastern territories of the country. This region is the most optimal for growing coffee: the height of robusta plantations is from 1200 to 1500 meters above sea level. And due to the fact that robusta in Uganda is grown at a fairly high altitude, it is considered one of the best in the world.
