Uganda's coffee is 80% represented by Robusta, and the remaining 20% is Arabica. By the volume of robusta exports, Uganda ranks 2nd in the world, and by the volume of all coffee produced – 8th. At the beginning of the 20th century, Arabica plantations appeared in Western Uganda on the slopes of the Rwenzori mountains. The region is the most optimal for growing coffee: climatic conditions are favorable for growing Arabica, and soil fertility is evenly distributed, ensuring a satisfactory level of production.
